Singing: ‘cause He’s intentional, never failing… Wow! What an amazing feeling to know that your Heavenly Father is intentional and never failing! I don’t know about you, but this gives me “life.” It motivates and inspires me. I mean the Bible does say “as He is, so are we.” Well doesn’t that mean I’m intentional? And never failing (if I’m doing His will)?? I’m just overjoyed in knowing that ALL things are working for my good! Its just a constant reminder with all the things going on around me in this world, when that job didn’t come through, and that raise wasn’t approved, and the moment of there’s no heartbeat, that God is INTENTIONAL, and never failing. That those things weren’t for me at that time, but knowing still ALL things are working for my good. Its empowering me today (which happens to be Tuesday) to take on life with full intention. To have a purpose for choosing what to say, what to eat, who to associate with, how I treat my family & friends and NOT to just go along with day to day life with no realization of what’s taking place. There was a reason my office got changed, a reason my boss got switched, a reason I was late leaving home this morning… (you catch my drift) and even in all of those things, I know they were and are for my good, my benefit! Its human nature to ask why? and to want to know what lies ahead for us, but we must believe and stand on the promises of God and know He’s got it!
I’m sorry if I’m rambling on a tangent but that song has really opened my mind and my heart to simply accept what God has planned for me in His own time and in His own way. To stop thinking “I” (Superwoman) have it all under control and planned out, because truthfully if those plans aren’t aligned with His will, its simply not going to happen! It’s a weight lifted when you actually submit to His will and allow God to take control. Now for some this is an easy task, while for some of us stubborn (want to be in control) folks – and I did say “us,” so I’m speaking to myself, it takes for things to almost become unbearable before “we” give it over to Him.
Okay let me figure out how to draw this to a close LOL. Remember that each day God awakens you, it’s a new opportunity to live your life with purpose and intention. Because somebody somewhere in this world didn’t wake up!
Alright that is all ladies. Again I apologize for the repetitive drawn out post just to get to that final point!
Have an INTENTIONAL weekend!
Finally I did it. Freedom has been granted. Thank you Jesus!!! You’re probably wondering what I’m talking about. Well Girlfriends after 10 long years (11 counting my internship) I was blessed to turn in my resignation from my job. Surprised??? Yeah I know I was just recently talking about celebrating the milestone of 10 years on the same job in 10 Years Later… , and believe me I have, but God has opened a door to where I can finally be free from the cage that I’ve felt like I was stuck in for so long. I can’t even begin to describe the freedom that I feel. I’ll have to admit I was a little nervous walking into my boss’s office to hand him that letter, but I walked out with a great sigh of relief and a major praise on my lips!!!
So what’s next you ask? My last official day was on the 7th (yeah I know I kept a secret from you all lol) and I have now been blessed with a great opportunity with another company. I always said that I even though I was unhappy with my position at the last job that I would not leave unless the right (Heaven sent) position came along. And to God be the glory I can finally say that position has come! I’ve only been on the job a few days, but so far it has been nothing but good. The opportunity for growth that I so desperately desired and wanted is now right before me. Now it’s just up to me to continue to grow and mature within the industry and allow the Lord to lead me as He sees fit! The sky is the limit girlfriends and I am ready for the ride!!! Can you feel my excitement????????
Not only have I recently started a new job, but I also started my graduate certificate program last week. Chile, I took one look at that syllabus my professor sent and thought, wait a minute am I sure this is what I want to do LOL! But that recently deposited tuition payment reminded me that I had no choice at this point! All jokes aside, I am super excited about starting this program and am actually ready for the challenge that it will present. The content of the class and coursework peaks my interest and now that I’m older (and not a silly teenager rushing thru work to get to a party) I’m confident that I will excel and it is my mission to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout the duration of this program. I need your prayers!!! And speaking of prayers (lol) I’ve recently received a new ministry position that I’m super excited about too. (I’ll share more details later) Yeah I know what you are thinking, how am I going to handle it all? To be honest I don’t know LOL! But I’ll get thru it all without anything lacking. It’s all about balance and having a good day planner!
God is truly doing some amazing things in my life right now! This is definitely my season of new and elevation! I’ve always been told to be careful what you wish or pray for, and they ain’t neva lied!!! I got exactly what I asked for and then some lol. But I’m not mad, I’m forever grateful for each and every opportunity. I know that there are challenges ahead of me as I learn to balance everything, but if done properly I know that I will be successful at all of it. So it’s upward and onward from here, there’s no looking back now!
“For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” Jeremiah 29:11 AMP
Cute outfit, perfect lighting, lip stick/gloss poppin, movie star teeth, SMILE, pose for the camera now CLICK CLICK!! I know my fellow Beyoncé fans immediately started singing Get Me Bodied after that LOLOL!! (Yeah me too, I am yet being delivered lol) Getting back on track…We all love a good selfie, right? Whether you have on a cute outfit or a fresh new do and you’re feeling yourself or you just finished working out and wanted to capture that workout glow, we’ve all been guilty of taking several selfie shots until we find that perfect one to post. Nothing is wrong with that, gon head with your bad “selfie” girl! 🙂 However (here she goes again) there is a negative side to the selfie craze.
It’s not so much the pictures that get on my nerves (although some of the pictures get on my nerves too), it’s more so of the hashtags that appear under the pictures. Now I’m all for self-love and uplifting yourself (as we discussed last week in Beauty Is…) but sometimes I think that some people think a little too much of themselves and the hashtags make them appear very arrogant and somewhat condescending over others. I’ve seen hashtags from #GetOnMyLevel or #GetLikeMe to #YallCantSitWithMe or #ImFlawless and things of the sort. My question then becomes, who said I wanted to get on “your level” and furthermore what is this level that you speak of? Who said that I wanted to be like or sit with you and if I did I may rethink it at this point since you have put yourself on this high pestle. And don’t even get me started on this flawless foolishness, Beyoncé got ya’ll all kinds of confused!! Ha!! Breathe girl LOL! Sorry if I seem really passionate about this because I am. I know it’s your personal page and you have the right to post whatever you want, but on the flip side I still feel like we need to be cognizant of the message we are sending out about ourselves. In my opinion, messages like these are childish and petty. I would expect such behavior as this from teenagers, but grown women? Come on now we should be wayyyy over that phase! What if another woman or young teenage girl is watching you? What if they look up to you and were trying to find a way to come and talk to you but have now shied away from the thought because of your arrogance?
Am I saying that you shouldn’t post selfies with hashtags? Not at all. Post your selfies, love on yourself, but also remember to love on others too. There’s nothing wrong with uplifting another sister while still encouraging yourself. We all have a little arrogance in us; I just feel that it’s just best to keep it to yourself and furthermore pray for God to humble you. Have your little moment, but have it privately. I guess the message I’m trying to push today is that we should be more positive with representing ourselves and more importantly how we represent Christ. Let’s use those selfies and hashtags to encourage a sister, push the Kingdom, and build the body of Christ. Better yet ask God to allow your path, or even better allow your selfie and/or hashtag reach another sister that day that will inspire her instead of tearing her down even further. That’s why we were created anyway, right? #FoodForThought
“The second is like it and is this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31 AMP

In honor of the coined hashtag #transformationtuesday. I would like to share an image I found on Pinterest. The image demonstrates how we should all approach each meal of the day. I believe if we were to vow to follow this imagery, we too can have our own #transformationtuesday for all to see!
I hope this inspires someones to a small step towards a healthier lifestyle.
Until next time ladies… enjoy your Tuesday!!
What’s underneath your clothing?
Its Friday beauties! And as I wrap up the Summer Beauty Series 2015, I want to personally thank each and every guest blogger that participated in making our series a success. We also want to thank each and every one of you our girlfriends for supporting us during this series.
So lets talk BODY SHAPERS ladies! Now this isn’t specifically a Summer only beauty secret because I personally wear them all year round, BUT this Summer I learned how effective a SPANX can actually be. Now I’ve had my fair share of body shapers, girdles, and shape wear whichever your preferred name for them. And I’ve also been a fan of the high waist panty or shorts with corset hooks in the waist. The hooking of the corset portion tends to give me the flattest look in my tummy area. My experience with this type in Summer time has not always been so flattering though. See the thing is with the heat here in the Carolinas thinner/lighter material clothing is a must! But with the thinner/lighter material clothing comes the embarrassment of the body shaper being exposed. So a few weeks ago while shopping at a local women’s clothing store I decided to try on a pair of SPANX. I was very optimistic that because it didn’t have the corset hooking in the midsection that it was only going to smooth me out and cause my tummy to appear more round and have that preggo affect. And much to my surprise it actually didn’t at all! Now, it still doesn’t hold me in as much as the corset type but it does hold and smooth the midsection.
For me, wearing a body shaper gives me needed confidence. I feel better in my clothes and I certainly think I look better in my clothes when I wear them. I know that for some they’re not the most comfortable but once you’ve worn them for years as I have its just as comfortable as wearing my panties LOL. Over the years, I’ve tried many different types/styles of body shapers trying to get that instant curvy look without putting in the real effort of healthy eating and exercise. It’s a short lived quick fix while I’m still a work in progress! (continue to pray for me)
I really hope you ladies have enjoyed our Summer Beauty Series 2015. We have enjoyed sharing with you and having special guests share as well. We want to personally thank all of our special guests that were featured in this series: Cannie, “MzNaturalLife” post titled – Listen Up Summer Naturals, Tanisha Walker of In Gods Image post titled – What’s Hot, and Shanna Fife “Ms. Naturally Random” post titled – L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint Review. Thank you ladies for your sharing with our Girlfriends!
Have a wonderful weekend, we’ll talk to you next week!
When visiting a local beauty supply store I noticed the vividly colorful display of L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint and decided I’m give them a try. Now, I’m totally into frugal beauty and although they only cost about $2.99 each, I still will not often buy cosmetics in every color that’s available. Reason #1: I’m not an MUA, there’s no makeup kit building going on over here.
#2 Hubby don’t play that! He knows I’m a #lipsticklover but buying stuff “just because” isn’t how we work. We’re “not bout that” useless splurge life! lol
Also I noticed tons of other beauty enthusiasts are stating (and you’d think so due to the packaging) that L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint are dupes for the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks.
Too Faced Melted Lipsticks are liquid lipsticks and L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint is a high pigmented gloss. I am mentioning this because if you are looking for a really close dupe of Too Faced product, this isn’t it.
Now, back to the great things I wanted to share!
Now this wouldn’t be an honest review if I didn’t state that there were a few CONS. I can share a few tips I’ve found that help to solve the aforementioned issues with the product.
#1 Its feathers quite a bit and gets messy quick!
Solution: A lip liner will keep everything in its place.
#2 It comes out of the tube pretty quickly.
Solution: I recommend using a lip brush to apply so you can control the amount of product onto your lips.
It’s a great price point, but (not exactly) a dupe for Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. Also, keep a lip liner and lip brush handy for neat application! So when you are looking for a new lippie, try your local beauty supply store. That’s my summer beauty secret. You never know what you are going to find! The frugal finds are always right under your nose! With a little patience and reapplying from time to time, you’ll be able to achieve a highly pigmented lip color for low cost!

Girlfriends!!! The summer season is coming to a close and so is our Summer Beauty Series!!! This week is all about beauty secrets and I have to be honest I DON’T HAVE ANY!!! **Shame Face** I have struggled with what I was going to talk about this week. I mean I have been googling to see if I could find something to report on, but I got nothing! I told you all in Less Is More that I’m a simple kinda girl. No fluff added, what you see is what you get! Honestly, it’s slightly embarrassing for a 32 year old women, but it’s the real me which I promised to give you all so I digress! I mean yeah sure I can drop a few nuggets that you may already know like:
- Always wear a good body shapper (Spanx being my preference) to give yourself a smoother look in a dress/skirt/jumper or putting on your Sunday’s best
- Use a feminine body spray (Summer’s Eve being my preference) to spray on your under garments to keep it fresh down there, especially on those hot days and if you have thunder thighs like myself lol Hey no shame in my game, you don’t want to get caught slipping, feel me?
- And for those well-endowed up top, put a little deodorant in between and under your breasts to help control sweat and odor. (I just recently learned this trick and it works wonders lol)
- Want clear skin? Drink plenty of water!!! The Girlfriends and I have challenged each other to drink 1 gallon of water a day and it is working wonders for my skin!
- Not able to get a pedicure as often as you’d like? Get you a 4-in-1 pedicure brush from the Target, some foot scrub and go to work honey!!! Then apply some Vaseline to your feet, put on a pair of socks and boom! Soft heels again!!! LOL!
But like I said I’m sure you all already knew that right? So me being me, I wanted to flip this week’s post around a bit and talk about beauty from within. Let’s face it you can have all the beauty secrets in the world, but if your self-esteem is low, your character is flawed and your heart/motives aren’t right, those go right out the window. How many times have you put on a fly outfit, a full face of makeup and a forced smile, yet still felt as though you weren’t pretty or felt as though you still missed the mark. I’ve been there where others told me I was pretty but in my mind I felt like I was too fat and not as cute as the little petite girl next to me. We (blogger included) have to stop that and start loving on ourselves. The Bible says that we were fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). God created us in His own image, therefore regardless of what society views as beautiful or how that voice in your head makes you feel, honey you are beautiful!! Beauty is you!!! Yes you!!!! Say it loud, I’m CUTE and I’m proud!!! LOL!
No but seriously the message I’m trying to push today is to love yourself just the way God made you. Loving yourself doesn’t have to hurt, as I told you in Pretty Hurts, and can be done modestly. I’m not telling you to start being arrogant or thinking too much of yourself, but I am saying that you should portray the beautiful spirit that God intended for you to have even while you were in your mother’s womb. Honestly I know that sometimes it’s hard to find her from within, but trust me she is there! Beauty is knowing who you are and to Whom you belong! Starting today let’s make a pack to not only spend time nurturing and enhancing our outer beauty, but let’s go a step further and take just as much time, no let’s take more time, molding and strengthening the inner you. If we can share beauty secrets to enhance the outer woman, we can also share those to bless the inner as well, right?
“Let not yours be the [merely] external adorning with [elaborate] [a]interweaving and knotting of the hair, the wearing of jewelry, or changes of clothes; But let it be the inward adorning and beauty of the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, which [is not anxious or wrought up, but] is very precious in the sight of God.” 1 Peter 3:3-4 AMP

Have a wonderful day ladies!!
Five years ago today, I became the Mrs. to my Mr. It was a beautiful “HOT” day that I’ll never forget. It felt like a dream and I think it took me to wake up the next morning to realize, it was a reality. I thank God for blessing me with such a hardworking, devoted, and loving husband. I’m excited to see what the future has in store for us and look forward to many, many more anniversaries to come!
Our love story is not one of high school sweethearts or childhood friends. We met online and now every time I see an online dating commercial I literally laugh out loud when the couple lies about how they met. We share a bond that’s incomparable. So, today as we celebrate us and reflect on how much we’ve grown together, I just want to say THANK YOU. Thank you for loving me and our family to immeasurable lengths; for unselfishly grinding each and every day to support us; for putting up with me, flaws and all (it aint easy). Thank you for simply being the love of my life!
Happy Anniversary baby, I love you!
Our first dance:
I woke up stressing yesterday
I went to sleep the same way
First thing that I saw this morning was your face
I think today I’ll be okay, thank you baby
Amazing how just one kiss, makes the drama not exist
And when the walls start closing in, then theres you
And when the walls start crumbling, then theres you
If I aint got nothing else theres always you…
