Your Gift

Earlier this week I was looking back at my email archives and I’ve clearly had this same email account for FOREVER. I was browsing my folders and noticed the folder that was labeled “PPS.” What’s PPS you may ask? It’s Perfect Planning Solutions. Can you guys believe that I started documenting my events in 2007! Remind you I said documenting them, but I had been planning parties for years- all through high school. Some years ago as a college project I was asked to develop a business plan. Well, I knew that I loved event and wedding planning and thought it was only fitting to design my business plan based off of my dream business. At the time, I couldn’t think of what I wanted to name it. I thought about using my own name, something like Tamara’s Events & Weddings; but that just didn’t seem fitting. So in the midst of creating this business plan I called up my Girlfriends! One of which I was rooming with the others we called on three-way LOL. I explained my business plan and immediately we started brainstorming this MASTER BUSINESS as partners! We finally settled on the name Perfect Planning Solutions. We believed (still do) that we have the perfect solutions to all your planning needs. So what am I getting at? Just when I think that my dream is only a dream God reminds me that He’s given me a GIFT. A spiritual gift of service, that no one else can take away from me. That no matter how many other people have the same sort of gift. That this is mine! Undefined by anyone else, unlike anyone else, that my level of creativity is not and cannot be hindered! He blessed me with it and only He can destroy or manifest it into something beyond my wildest imagination. Just when I think that maybe I’m not cut out for this- because I’m not well-known, certified by paper, have a warehouse stored with inventory, or have the means to support a full-time staff, He shows me that its still my gift! And that I must continue to use it!

I was created to create because I’m the daughter of the Creator. ~Tamara Watts

So today, I challenge you to challenge God and yourself in dusting off your gifts and bless the world with all you have to offer. Never let the world tell you you’re not good enough, you’re not the best, because you are! Do you know who your Father is? He’s promised you that you can do ALL things through Him! Be inspired ladies and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and into a new dimension.

Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created. ~Esther 4:14

Have a wonderful weekend ladies!

Can the Saints say Amen

You know that feeling when you’re somewhere in public and somebody takes off running…..and you find yourself doing a quick step to join, just cause. That’s me in a store when I see a “good” deal in someone elses cart. For instance take the kids exchange (a kids consignment that is held in a huge warehouse) when those doors open, people be running!!! I mean running. Never forget my first time going, one of the Girlfriends and I stood in a line wrapped around the building like we was in line for the club during Homecoming at A&T SU, AGGIE PRIDE!!! ok back to the subject, the line BE LOOONNNG, lol. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, babies carried all types of ways on their mothers, wagons of all sizes, empty tall laundry baskets with bungee cords attached at this consignment. We felt unprepared, and honestly we was. These ladies and men (There was some dad’s in the house too) raced to specific items, I found myself following them, lol. The way they were running I just couldn’t tell if we were running from something or to something. Lets just say I’ve been going ever since, oh and I’m prepared every time.

For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed shopping. I mean I really enjoy shopping. Kids grow so fast so SOME things I don’t believe need to be brand new. With that being said, when I do decide to buy I go bananas over sales, red dot, clearance and the good ol’ “hook-ups”. I promise you, something comes over me and I am in my element and focused when I shop, yes it is my therapy in any given moment. When I was in high school working in retail, I would buy things because it was on sale. One time I bought baby clothes just because it was an awesome buy with not having any kids or even knowing any babies to wear it. Still to this day I would buy cat food if it was a good deal, mind you I have a dog, God is working on me. Target lately has been my store for a few different things; hair products, cleaning items, kids clothes, home décor, just to name a few. I go straight for the clearance end caps and I know where every last one is. The store is NOT left until I have been by all the clearance isles. At times items that really aren’t low enough for me gets placed in the wrong spots so I just make a mental note and keep coming back to check when the price has come down, bad? I know.

So with all that being said, since I am planning on moving out of my parents house, can the Saints say Amen, I know my parents are, lol. I am actively trying to STOP buying things just because it’s on sale. When I pick something up, I am now practicing this whole thought process.
1. Do I really need it
2. If I’m thinking of it for someone else, do they really need it? Do they really need me to get it for them? Is it a gift or will they be paying me back?
3. If determined I need it… I need it now? Can it wait?
4. Can I get it cheaper? Where can I get it cheaper?

Now lets say I have determined that I WANT it COULD use it later (once moved) and I buy it, where the heck am I gonna put it?

So, learning that I don’t have to buy it just because it’s on sale is a work in progress, some days are better than others.

Any of you ladies experience this battle?

Adventures of my new hobby…Baby Shower Edition

Happy Tuesday GFs!!!!! I hope everyone had a wonderfully blessed weekend because I did!!! lol So let’s talk about baby showers…because that’s what I did this past Saturday. I had the pleasure of putting together and hosting a baby shower for my sister-cousin. Her sister and I put out heads together along with a few Pinterest pins and created a nice, yet simple shower that turned out lovely if I do say so myself lol! There wasn’t a theme just color and print inspired. Because she’s not “girly” we used lilac and light gray with a chevron print. I found a great (FREE) website called The Little Umbrella that have a (FREE) chevron collection and allowed me to customize to our personal color pallet. Everything from invitations, banners, notecards, favor tags, to thank you’s and games. Very helpful for a one stop shop with the stationary you need. With the limitations of the space that we rented for the shower, the decorations remained to a minimum. The small metal tins came from Target and the pom poms from Party City.

With all of that being said….this also gave me the ultimate chance to be creative and…bake bake bake!!!!! I decided to make dessert stands. All of my materials came from the Dollar Tree. I used various plates like these and these. I used candle holders like these and other vases like these. When it came to my cookies…I used baby themed cookie cutters like these. Needless to say I did a big batch (at least 40 cookies) and decorating was time consuming, but they were gorgeous! Along with the cookies, I made cake pops and candy coated rice krispie treats. I was thoroughly please with the end result and got some great complements on my creations (go me!). We also ordered a cake from Sugar Buzz Bakery (can we say yum yum!). Great turnout, great success. Baby Morgan is one prepared lady 🙂

Let me know what you think…until next time…

Adventures of my new hobby…

I’m so loving this new hobby. I’ve had the pleasure of baking some sweet treats for Katesha (girlfriendKT)!!!! She requested cake pops but I threw in some extra goodies. This was my first time really trying out a few decorating tips that I’ve been studying. If I say so myself…I think I did really really REALLY good job :D. I also did a few recipe modifications this go round, which came out pretty tasty as well! A few things that didn’t turn out like I planned but turned out great anyway were the cookies holding their shapes when baked. I used round shaped cookie cutters that were plain on one side and scalloped on the other. Pretty much all of the cookies came out round with no detail lol. But with the next adventure I will modify my recipe once more to hopefully get that perfect shape-holding dough. Let me know what you think.

Adventures of my new hobby…

Hellloooo!!!!!!! I’m excited this week. I get to practice a bit more on my new found hobby. I’m baking Sugar Cookies 🙂 I’ve Google’d and YouTube’d and Google’d some more to find a good starter recipe. All that I’ve found list the same ingredients with minor variations; some uses heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, or baking powder vs baking soda. So I’ve stuck with a simple recipe from a YouTube channel that I subscribed to. Now I believe they came out PERFECT, but to me they taste more like short bread cookies rather than sugar cookies 🙂 I didn’t roll the cookie cut-outs/dough in sugar before baking them, so that could be a potential reason for the not-so-sugar cookie taste. Nevertheless, this still makes the list of a keeper recipe. If you have any tips, tricks, or advice for me to try out please let me know! Pictures coming soon (after the baby shower).

So I’m about that “planner-life” LOL. But no seriously I am! I enjoy being a Weddings & Events Planner. This habit (bad-habit as some see it lol) developed back when I was in high school… I would help plan family functions and birthday parties. People started telling me how good I was at it and how much they hated the logistics of planning and appreciated my help. I also have always been rather crafty and absolutely LOVE diy projects!!! The best part of it all for me is having a creative outlet. Being a planner there’s never a dull moment of replication/duplication… there’s always a way to make something different than before, customized to suit each individual.

Proverbs 16:9 ~ The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (ESV)

This scripture reminds me that no matter how much I plan, God still has control over my steps. I love having the opportunity to plan and watch things come to life. I thank God that in all of my planning He still takes control and shifts things the way He sees fit. For me, as a planner things don’t just stop at weddings and events. I menu plan, blog plan, workout plan, craft plan- you name it I “plan” for it first… as much as possible. I like having an agenda/to-do list, I really should buy stock in Post-Its, I literally write lists and notes all day long and stick them wherever needed for me to get things done! You can look forward to March being the Baby Shower month for me! There are three showers currently in the making for this month and the anticipation of seeing these final reveals is killing me. I’m so excited to share with you, just what being about that “planner-life” is for me right here!! So cheers to the weekend ladies! I’ve got 100 hand sanitizer labels to cut and glue ~ pray for me LOL.

Adventures of my new hobby…

Greetings! As I mentioned in an earlier post about trying to find a new hobby…..well by George I think I got it!!!!!! The adventures of sweet treats. Now I will post everything from epic fails to totally successful. Don’t judge me too bad lol. It’s all about trial and error and making it work as Tim Gunn would say :). It all started with looking for ideas and color schemes for an upcoming baby shower that I will be hosting. Pinterest will have you believing that you can do any of these ideas because every pin says it’s just that simple. Well, so I don’t look like real CRAY CRAY at the shower, I needed to put some of these ideas to the test. Granted, I have been trying to perfect buttercream icing for a few weeks and experimenting with some of the pins I found, but this week I am tackling something new…candy pretzels. It all came about in a conversation with a coworker doing a gender reveal get together for her sister’s baby. She was trying to come up with some sweet treat ideas. Little did I know that everything I threw out there I would be making lol. So this week I am tackling candy pretzels and cake pops. I’ll update soon with more pics. Tell me how I did…epic fail or total success?!?!?!?!?

A sample of the finished project. Would you place an order?!?!?!?!?

Auntie Time!!!!

As you know, I do not have any children of my own at the moment, but when I get the opportunity, I borrow a few from time to time lol. And because I love kids so much, I had the pleasure of spending some time this weekend with some awesome little ones (15 months, 23 months, and 5 yrs). We had a nice sleepover… nothing like a good ol’ slap in the face from a sleeping toddler or saving a 5 yr old from making a head dive off the side of the bed lol. The fun began dark and early Saturday morning at 5:45am!!!!!!! By 6:30am everyone was up. We ate waffles and grits for breakfast. They ran up and down the hallway for a few hours, and then it was NAP TIME!!!! I was able to get all fresh and rejuvenated and prepared for the afternoon. We had lunch at Noodles and Co. and shopping to make special treats. More naps and burning energy: chasing the dogs and riding them like horses… I had time to make treats. Cake pops here we come! It was such an easy recipe. I think they came out pretty nice. It was a simple and fun hands-on project to do with the kids. I got the recipe/idea from MyLittleCupcakePop on YouTube. It was a great no bake option (although a little sweet for me). We used purple candy melts (my fav color) and some simple sprinkles for decoration. You’ll have to give me your thoughts on what they look like. cake pop 2.10.15What a great weekend. I’m sure I’ll have many more great AUNTIE ventures to share
