Never Knew A Love Like This

Happy Friday Girlfriends! As we embark upon the Valentine’s holiday, I wanted to talk just a moment about love. Wait! don’t exit the page, this is not a sappy love story about me and my boo. This is about a SISTERHOOD kind of LOVE! You still here? Okay good —

I’m sure some of you are familiar with the bible story of Ruth and Naomi…. Right? Maybe so? Well here is a brief refresher – Ruth was married to one of Naomi’s sons. Naomi was preceded in death first by her husband and then later by her two sons. Naomi and her two daughter-in-laws (Orpah & Ruth) decided to travel to Bethlehem from Moab. Along this journey, Naomi tells Orpah & Ruth that they must return back to their mother’s houses in Moab. Initially both of them explained to Naomi that she must go with them, but she refused. Orpah returned to Moab, but Ruth just couldn’t leave Naomi. Ruth understood the state Naomi was in, she was destitute and grieving the loss of her family during a famine. Ruth & Naomi continued to Bethlehem and Ruth would gather corn dropped by the workers in the fields for food.

Now, I’m stopping the story here because this should be all the precursor I need to express my point of sisterhood love. We all need to have a “Ruth spirit” – she understood the real needs of Naomi and decided she would help her even though it would be very hard and inconvenient. All of us at some point may experience a “Naomi moment” – where we’re truly in need of someone else’s help but don’t want to disturb their daily life dynamic or inconvenience them with our own personal issues/problems. Nevertheless, what I do know is that God’s Word is true and everything written in the Bible is for us to learn and abide by. The love presented by Ruth unto Naomi is not written for us to just give praise to Ruth, it is to show us how we are to love one to another.

So ladies when you know of a sister that’s going through a “Naomi moment” please have a “Ruth spirit” – one in which they can’t resist, one in which they know is genuine, one in which they don’t feel like charity, one in which they truly feel the LOVE OF GOD through you!

Please remember these Naomi’s on Valentine’s Day too, send them encouragement and love, because we never know when we could fall victim of a “Naomi moment.”

May the Lord repay you for your kindness, and may your reward be full from the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.~ Ruth 2:12 (AMP)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Reason for the Season

‘Twas the Friday before Christmas and all through the house… so it’s technically the eve of Christmas Eve right? lol… is anybody else on a Christmas is coming high?!? (I know it aint just me ;-)) Well guess what girlfriends? It is coming in just 2 more days!! What a wonderful time to be alive and amongst the living to give honor to Jesus Christ! I just wanted to leave you with a few scriptures to remind us all of why we celebrate Christmas, better yet of why we celebrate Jesus – the reason for the season.

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:23

*Jesus was born so that God could be with you and me

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17

*Christmas lights should be a reminder that God is the Father of lights and that every good and perfect gift comes from Him

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Peter 3:15

*Not everyone we see knows the true reason for the season, a lot of people get caught up in the commercial driven hype of Christmas, but it is our responsibility to tell them about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Well ladies that’s all I want to share with you and I pray that those 3 scriptures touched your hearts.

Let us pray… God I thank you for another opportunity to sow into the life of the person reading this, I pray that I may draw just one person closer to you. I pray that none of us will get caught up in the hype of Christmas and steer away from Jesus. That we would NOT fall victim of over spending to give gifts to our families and friends. I pray that none of us will experience grief, depression, anxiety, nor debt this season. And that we all will remember the precious gift of LOVE. It is in your precious son’s Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.

God bless you all and have a very Merry CHRISTmas!

Joy for Your Day,

Are You Really Ready?

Service today was really eye opening. I’ve been reflecting over it all day since leaving the church earlier this afternoon. My Pastor just started a new series for the month of September “7 Things God Wants Me To Have”. The Word has been so rich, we’ve been on point 1 for the past 2 weeks…”A Restored Relationship” with the subtopic “I’m Saved.” It has made me take a serious look at my salvation. Today Pastor posed a question to the congregation. He asked for complete honesty in giving an answer. Today he asked how many people in the congregation were willing to have their throats slit or were willing to take a bullet in honor of Jesus Christ. He asked those that were ready to die for the cause to stand to their feet. I didn’t stand…

My first instinct was to stand up regardless you know to save face. I’m a leader in the church so its the right thing to do make it appear as though I have it all together right? Wrong. Honestly at that moment I couldn’t answer that question with a yes. Do I love Jesus yes, am I walking every day in a manner that represents Christ and will secure my spot in Heaven yes. But at that moment I imagined someone standing in front of me with a gun pointed to my head or a knife at my throat and a fear came over my body. Would I be brave enough to say yes I love Jesus and be killed or would I choke and deny Him like Peter?

death-1655381_1920I’m ashamed. I’m embarrassed. I feel bad. What is the purpose of proclaiming Christ if I can’t commit to fully giving up my life for Him? Its the least I can do right? He gave it all up for me when He took the abuse, the beatings, the nails in His hands, his feet, the crown of thorns on His head and ultimately His life on the cross. Why am I afraid to take a bullet for Him knowing that once its said and done I will open my eyes and see Him face to face. This thing really has me messed up ya’ll. I’ve asked for forgiveness. Father please forgive me and remove this fear. If I can boldly state my love for Christ in any other arena of life, surely I can be bold enough to represent Him in what could be my last few minutes of life. He deserves that much of me.

Now I want to ask you the same question. Would you stand your ground and profess that Jesus is Lord and Savior of your life or would you freeze like I did today and say nothing? I know this is heavy today, but its needed especially this day in age. We are getting closer and closer to the end of the world as we know it, Jesus is soon to crack the sky. There are Christians over seas that have already loss their lives in one of these very same situations and its not far from coming to the States. We have to get ready ya’ll, I mean really get ready. Its time to let go of the pettiness and the foolishness and get serious about the things of Christ. Its time to fully submit to Him, time to be completely SOLD OUT and proclaim its for God I live and for God I will die. The Bible is being fulfilled right before our eyes, again I reiterate Jesus is soon to come.

If asked this question again, my answer would definitely be yes. I will stand without hesitation with a smile on my face. I’m ready and I mean it this time. What about you? Are you REALLY ready?

Whoever does not carry his own cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow after Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me] cannot be My disciple – Luke 14:27 AMP

Faith Restored

“Mommy my room, my room!!! I love my room!!!!” Sweet Pea shouted with excitement as we walked through an open house and she walked into a little girl’s bedroom. The walls were painted yellow, little girl’s toddler bed, bookshelf, toys, closet full of clothes. I stood there with Sweet Pea and watched her with tears in my eyes thinking one day soon baby girl, one day soon…

To be honest my faith has been shaken, I was starting to believe that the dream of home ownership was just that a dream. Thoughts of doubt made me to believe we’d never make it there. Yes debt is being paid off, but after the excitement of paying off one the burden of how we will pay for the next take over my mind. I see God moving in others lives but feel as though I’m stuck in a never ending cycle. One minute believing this is our year, its getting ready to happen for us and the next back into despair and doubt feeling it will never come to pass.

Then it happened, a peek into my future through the eyes and excitement of my 4 year old…my faith had been restored. She didn’t understand that this was just “practice”, we were only there to walk through and get ideas, or were we? Was this what my hubby and I needed to do in order to rekindle the flame of faith in our hearts? We often look at houses online, but this was much different. We were standing in the house this time, we could see ourselves dwelling there. It felt so, so good. I wanted to squeal like Sweet Pea and yell “My house, my house, this is my house” but held my composure lol However internally my soul was leaping for joy. This can happen for us, this will happen for us, home ownership will be ours!

Today I want to leave you with that little bit of encouragement. Stop focusing on what is in front of you and hang on to that which you can’t physically see but believe in your heart. “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 (NKJV) Forget your current circumstances and remember that they are only there for a season. Put your focus back on what matters most your faith in The One that holds all power in His hands. There is NOTHING too hard for God. We serve the omnipotent God, the creator of all things. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we could ever ask or think. We just have to believe.

Yet we have the same spirit of faith as he had, who wrote in Scripture, “I believed, therefore I spoke.” We also believe, therefore we also speak, ~ 2 Corinthians 4:13 AMP

Today I Trust God With…

Today’s mid-week devotional has to do with our TRUST IN GOD. What is it that you truly trust God with in your life? I’m sharing a devotional from the Jennie Allen blog entitled Trust Marker. The message is simple: That which is God’s plan YOU have no control over! There’s no way for you to mess it up, and there’s no way for you to save it. It’s His plan y’all!

So today, I ask you – What Will You Trust God With?

Commit your way to the Lord;
Trust in Him also and He will do it. ~Psalm 37:5 (AMP)

Enjoy your Wednesday and rest of the week ladies!

Bitter into Sweet

It’s Wednesday ladies and time for our mid-week devotional!

Have you ever given up on things and thought to yourself God is really dealing with me? Why is He being so hard on me? This didn’t go as planned, then that happened, and now this! Just in a woe-is-me funk? Well, this week’s devotional is from Deeper Waters entitled Stories of Beauty. It talks about part of the story of Naomi.

And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. ~Ruth 1:20

I know when I read this I thought “shoot, I know just what you’re talking about Naomi.” I’ve gone through some really bitter and ugly moments in my life and some of those hardships I thought were going to take me out. But see, God saw differently (Praise Him) and now I have a testimony of redemption. He’s turned my bitter into sweet and my ugly into beautiful!

Ladies, nothing is as bad as it may seem. The truth is: not to run from it, but to face it, embrace it, and wait on God to redeem it!DW

Enjoy your Wednesday!!

Happy Wednesday Ladies! As we live from day-to-day, we often find ourselves planning to be more efficient. Especially us ladies, as little girls we thought about or planned to the “T” specific events or milestones and then life was interrupted; well interrupted by God. Sometimes in life with all of our planning we begin to operate out of the will of God and make decisions that are comfortable, stagnant or even the complete opposite of where God see’s us. When this occurs, God tends to interrupt our plans for the betterment of our future. Only He has the ability to see the danger, the wasted time, the ripple effect it has on our families when we plan outside of God. A lot of times when God interrupts our plans we can get frustrated and discouraged, but always remember He has your back and trust that wherever you were heading doesn’t compare to what awaits where God is taking you.

Got Prayer?

GOT PRAYERHi ladies! I hope this blog finds you well on today. I must say I have been convicted this morning and it’s truly a great thing to happen to me. I was reading back over the posts of my fellow GIRLFRIENDS. this week and suddenly I felt so convicted. That guilty conviction when know you haven’t fully trusted God, so like lately my prayers seem unbelievable. I pray because I know I’m supposed to and yes I want God to do some things in my life, but I don’t have any real belief behind them. In my mind and on my own agenda I have developed plans B, C, and D, just in case God don’t come through (when I think He’s supposed to). I’ve been convicted of not feeling worthy of the same (yet exclusive to my life) blessings God has been giving to others. Like for some reason its not supposed to be my turn just yet. And then I open up my daily devotional and today’s topic was The Priority of Prayer! So now I’m like “OKAY GOD, I HEAR YOU!” Because see, God knows I’m a crystal-clear-believer, meaning when He shows me things – it needs to be “crystal clear” to me. I don’t know about some of you and how God talks to you, but He knows I need abit more convincing that its Him LOL.

So with that, I’m very happy to be called out and convicted on this morning because its like a “hello, wake-up Tamara” experience for me. Now I’ve heard from Him and I’m re-empowered to believe in those things He has promised to me. I can go into prayer confidently knowing that I have the righteousness of Jesus and that my prayers have power. I can be precise in my prayers and ask for things in confidence because I am deserving and worthy. And so can you! Ladies, prayer is not a game! It’s a way of life and it is necessary to be a daily priority for you .

You do not have, because you do not ask (it of God). –James 4:2 AMP

Ladies, if you desire prayer please feel free to submit us a request and we can pray for and with you.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]. –James 5:16 AMP

You are More than…..

Happy International Women’s Day Ladies! This week I’m going to keep it short and sweet. Rather recently I have been hearing in different situations a general concept where one’s VALUE is questioned. According to Webster’s dictionary, worth is defined as “good and deserving respect, praise, attention, having enough good qualities to be considered important, useful”. I think its safe to say we all have heard “Worth” by Anthony Brown and group therAPy, this song speaks specifically of who truly believes you’re worthy. This song ministers to me personally because I think of the times when I question myself as a mother and I’m reminded that God blessed me with these two children and chose ME to be their mother, one of the biggest roles that will ever be played in their life. The few occasions at work where my best just doesn’t seem to measure up to the standards of some (unappreciative, impatient families), or that individual(s) that we all have faced sometime or another in life that bold face told us we were worthless of their actions told it. The song brings back the memory of how God (Our Father) declared that we were (are) Worthy. Worthy of loving, worthy of forgiving, worthy of staying, that choosing to fight for us was a no-brainer…simply because we are more than worthy. Ladies, never ever look to others to gage your worth, but to the Lord. How encouraging, motivating and comforting to know He chose you; God chose you and because of that, you are more than….you fill in the blank! So my beautiful ladies, just a reminder from this Girlfriend to you, you’re more than Worthy and for anyone that says differently…… in the words of Priscilla Shirer, “Tell them who your Daddy is”
