So truth be told, I was not up for writing a blog post today (hey! I’m just being honest). It’s a cold, rainy morning here in the Carolinas. And lately I’ve been in a ragged state of mind – where I’ve lost my motivation. I haven’t hungered to do the things that I so dearly love. I haven’t felt like I’m good enough to pursue my creative talents. I’ve just been in a daze watching the people of this world around me. “Wow, that’s nice! Wish I could do something like that.” Are the types of statements I’ve been saying. Just on this “WISH” factor lately, as if things are just too impossible to happen to and for me. And yes, I know this is not the talk of a believer. But we’re all human right? And my feelings and emotions are that of human nature. I know God is dealing with me because He keeps giving/sending me the Word that enlightens and reassures me of His promises. That at the very moments He sends them, I’m all amped up – only to come crashing back down. I’m writing you from a state of “Work In Progress,” because that’s truly where I am in life right now. I’m focusing on my future believer goals, career goals, wifey goals, and parenting goals. And to some, I know that may seem like a lot, but each ties into the other so it’s not as daunting of a list. I do have faith that I will reach my full potential, develop my creative talents, and reach each of my goals. I’m not giving up or giving in. The enemy may have slowed me down but not for long. I’m determined to be that which God has called me. My prayer today is that you and I never give up! We learn to fight back harder than ever. We believe that what we see is not the end result, God has promised us so much more. We honor and seek after Him daily. And that we speak life and not death.

Girlfriends, enjoy the rest of your week and have a wonderfully blessed weekend!

Power In Words

Every Tuesday the owners of my company host a weekly company prayer in the office. Anyone is invited to participate and we use this time to pray for the company, employees and any other situation that may be presented to the group during that time. Last week there were a few pretty heavy prayer requests put before the group and after giving mine the VP of our company asked that I start the prayer off with my request. Normally I attend the prayers but do not vocally participate unless I’m lead by the Spirit. My first notion was to say I’d rather not, but instead quieted my own spirit and allowed His Spirit to flow. And He did just that, His sweet presence was felt all through the office and I had to contain myself and quickly remember that I was at work and not in the sanctuary fighting the urge to scream and cry like I really wanted to! lol Immediately following the prayer my VP pulled me aside and said that he wanted to give me a bit of encouragement. He said that he was led to ask me to open the prayer because he sensed something in me. He went on to say that as soon as I opened my mouth he felt the presence of the Holy Spirit and that he wanted me to remember that there is more power in my words than I think. Wow I was taken back by that and all I could say was thank you and to God be the glory!

Moral of the story today…Watch how you carry yourself and the words that you speak because you never know when you will be called upon to represent HIM! I would have never opened the prayer on my own free will and never would have thought the things that I say would have an impact. Maybe you feel the same way about yourself, doubting that anything you say matters. Guess what it does and we have to be careful what we say and how we say things about ourselves or others. As the scripture says life and death lies in the power of the tongue, so I urge you today to think before you speak. Before you allow any negativity or ill will towards yourself or others roll off of your tongue, consider if you are speaking life or death. Even in the worst of situations, you can still speak positively and life into the situation and ultimately turn your perspective about it around. If we are to be representatives of Christ through our lifestyles we need to do that in every aspect of the word. Go back to the golden rule, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all,” after all the same scripture goes on to say that you will bear consequences of your words.

So be wise, remain optimistic, speak life and watch your words…there is more power there than you think.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.- Proverbs 18:21

“Dust til 8”

So I often talk about my children and the day to day adventures that occurs in our family so why not share what’s been going on lately. So I’ll start with my oldest child, she has now entered into a time where it’s no longer a cool thing to have a brother. She is desperately trying to hold onto him being a baby as I am too, but this little fella is not having it. She is unable to steal a kiss or a hug from him without him frantically wiping his face as if its straight acid. She tries to help him out (she’s a little mama) and the response that we always get is “I do it”. He seems to be as big as she is so picking him up is a just awkward for everyone. We are on week three of potty training and I would say he pretty much has it down pack. We have had a total of three accidents in which mommy was not involved LOL. We couldn’t be more excited for him and our pocket of course, no more diapers. As of now he still wears a pull-up to bed although he’s been waking up dry. Lately it’s been a struggle because he wants to wear his big boy underwear to bed too, but this mama does not feel like stripping the bed in the middle of the night. With that being said using the public bathroom has been quite an adventure I have no idea why my little guy thinks a public bathroom stall is a children’s touch and feel Museum. I bout had an anxiety attack the first time I had to take him to use a public bathroom I was screaming PUT YOUR HANDS IN YOUR POCKETS AND DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING!!!. And then I couldn’t figure out whether to sit him down to go or should I let him stand up?……like it was just too much. Any suggestion for little boys using the ladies public bathroom? As for my baby girl on this spring break she has lost a total of three teeth two of which were the Chicklets in the front so you know how she is talking right about now LOL. I am proud to say that I have not forgotten my duty as Tooth Fairy even if it’s waking up at 5 o’clock in the morning with my phone flash light hunting for a tooth that never ever seems to be under the pillow and getting back out of the room before she wakes up. They are growing up fast, I try real hard not to blink, enjoy every moment of Dust til 8, or whenever your little one(s) crash.

The Question Is…

Sweet Pea is on this question thing now. She asks a million and 1 questions in 1 day and they typically all start with “Why?” It drives me nuts!! LOL! I find myself telling her “Please stop asking Mommy questions,” or “Hey let’s take a break” It wboard-776688_1920asn’t until the other day in the midst of coordinating a project for a ministry assignment that I realized hey I ask a lot of questions too! (I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree huh lol)

I was assigned a task and wanted to make sure that all goes well, I suffer from being a perfectionist and am slightly OCD when my name is over any type of event no matter how big or how small. All of my questions ended up in a conference call with my Pastor and another staff member. At the end of the call Pastor told me “Katesha you worry too much, stop worrying!” All I could do was laugh, say yes sir and ask that he continue to pray for me! LOL!

That conversation led me to think about this thing. Why do I ask so many questions? My first thought well its a woman’s instinct, we like to know the details of everything, we have to have it laid out from top to bottom. My second thought well I was a Sociology major and I tend to analyze EVERYTHING, so I guess its just a second nature to me. My last and final thought….I like to be in CONTROL, which leads to all of my 21 questions and then some! My thoughts then shifted to how I ask of different things from my Father in Heaven. I’ve always heard or been told that you are not question God, but yet I still do. Its our human nature right? I try really hard not to be like Sweet Pea and ask my Daddy, a bunch of whys, how comes, and why nots; but hey it happens and probably more often than it should. I just feel like I need to know why certain things happened or why some things have not happened. I need to know how to handle this situation or that, the proper words to say. I put up my petition, say that I leave it all in His hands, but then find myself asking Him a long list of follow up questions hoping to receive clarity or a rapid response. Just as I need to do in those moments, I want to leave you with a few scriptures to help you along the way when you find yourself questioning God. Read them, study them, meditate and pray over them, write them down and place them somewhere that’s easily accessible where you can put your hands on them when needed.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 AMP

For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God].” 1 Corinthians 13:12 AMP

If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him. But he must ask [for wisdom] in faith, without doubting [God’s willingness to help], for the one who doubts is like a billowing surge of the sea that is blown about and tossed by the wind.” James 5-6 AMP

And after you’ve asked your question, studied and prayed, as I often tell Sweet Pea when she’s asking me “why”, TAKE A BREAK! Be quiet for a moment and get that response before moving on to the next. It will cause less headache in the end before you are going back down that laundry list of questions again.

Peace and Blessings,

**Disclaimer: This is starting to be a common theme that I write about, and I apologize for being repetitive, but if I’m lead to write it I pray that as I am working towards deliverance someone else is too!**

Bitter into Sweet

It’s Wednesday ladies and time for our mid-week devotional!

Have you ever given up on things and thought to yourself God is really dealing with me? Why is He being so hard on me? This didn’t go as planned, then that happened, and now this! Just in a woe-is-me funk? Well, this week’s devotional is from Deeper Waters entitled Stories of Beauty. It talks about part of the story of Naomi.

And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. ~Ruth 1:20

I know when I read this I thought “shoot, I know just what you’re talking about Naomi.” I’ve gone through some really bitter and ugly moments in my life and some of those hardships I thought were going to take me out. But see, God saw differently (Praise Him) and now I have a testimony of redemption. He’s turned my bitter into sweet and my ugly into beautiful!

Ladies, nothing is as bad as it may seem. The truth is: not to run from it, but to face it, embrace it, and wait on God to redeem it!DW

Enjoy your Wednesday!!

Take Up YOUR Cross

Happy Wednesday Girlfriends! We are just a few days away from the biggest celebration for a Christian…RESURRECTION SUNDAY!!! The day that defines our total being, the day that we celebrate the GREATEST sacrifice, the resurrection of our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ!!!!

We can so easily get caught up in the Easter Sunday suits, Easter egg hunts and baskets, but today I want us to reflect on the real reason for the celebration…Jesus! He was beaten, abused, spat upon, called out of His name, nailed to a cross…for one reason…you and me. He paid the ultimate price so that we would live again through Him! But it doesn’t stop there. We honor and give much thanks to the price He paid that day, but now what role do you play in all of this? In Matthew 16:24 – 26 Jesus gave a declaration for becoming His disciple:

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me]. 25 For whoever wishes to save his life [in this world] will [eventually] lose it [through death], but whoever loses his life [in this world] for My sake will find it [that is, life with Me for all eternity]. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world [wealth, fame, success], but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Let’s take a moment of self reflection here. Have you really taken this scripture to heart? Have you truly denied yourself, your agenda, your “plan” to follow Jesus. Have you made the declaration that whatever happens in my life I follow Jesus NO MATTER WHAT. How quickly do we turn away from the Master when something doesn’t go our way or according to our own plan? Is the “despair” really worth it? Okay yes, I get it, we are human and we act upon our flesh and emotions at times, but when will we surrender all, throw up our hands and truly say “Lord I’m Yours, use me in anyway you see fit”. I know its hard to digest but it’s right there in the scriptures. If we call ourselves disciples of Christ then we must endure the storms of life, take up our cross, surrender it all, deny our own selfish ambitions and follow Him. Its as simple as that.

Remember this one thing… He already paid it ALL on the cross on Calvary. The broken heart, the misunderstanding, the doubt, the worry, the illness and/or disease, the divorce, the loneliness… He endured it ALL. If He thought that much of you and me, then why must it be so hard for us to follow this one commandment?

Have a blessed remainder of Holy Week and a Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Peace & Blessings,

Let It Go

Let it goooooooooooooooo, let it goooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay so all of us moms with small children have heard this song one, two or three hundred million times right? LOL! Sweet Pea has been singing it since leaving her friend’s “Frozen” themed birthday party on Sunday! So I’m just about OVER this song! HA!! (Although I’ve joined in singing it with her a few times) 😉 It was just after the party (which was gorgeous!! I felt like a 5 year old princess too…okay focus Katesha) and a conversation with my hubby the next day that inspired the content of this post today…the art of “Letting Go”.

Let It Go

Now if you haven’t figured it out by now I am somewhat of a feisty type female. Never been in a physical altercation, but in certain situations will “read” and “throw shade” with the best of them Okay!!! Especially when it comes to those that I love…oh honey I’m ready to go toe for toe, blow for blow, let’s get it type situation. But that’s not always the best option, right? Although at times I want to be “Petty Betty” and say a few choice words to let them know that its real, I can’t. My flesh is screaming “Yes do it, let’em know” but my spirit man is telling me “Katesha let it go, let Me fight your battles.” And now I’m torn, I know the right thing to do, listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, but at the same time my flesh is weak and ready to fight fire with fire, but it will never work that way.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. Ephesians 6:12

It goes so much deeper than that “sweet” revenge we think we will get from stooping to their level. So what am I trying to say here? We have to learn to let things go. It’s as simple as that.Yeah she talked about you behind your back, ran your name in the mud and then turns around and smiles in your face…Let it Go!!! Go old school on ’em like your mother used to tell you back in the day, kill them with kindness. Love on them. Better yet pray for them, yes I said it, pray for them. Pray that whatever they may have against you that they find peace within themselves to let it go and that they will even come to you to discuss the matter and clear the air. Pray that your spiritual maturity will rub off on them, that whatever deeper issue they are facing within themselves will surface and they will come to you for guidance and that it will draw them even closer to Jesus. At this point with all that’s going on in the world we do not have time to waste on what people think or say about us. There is a much bigger picture and there is Kingdom work to be done!

So today I want to leave you with this small nugget of encouragement…Let it Go! It’s not worth it, for you or for them. Keeping seeking the face of the Master, draw even closer to Him so that He may guide your thoughts, your motives and ultimately your actions towards others.

It shall come about, if you listen obediently and pay attention to My commandments which I command you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul [your choices, your thoughts, your whole being]—Deuteronomy 11:13

You shall not take revenge nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall loveyourneighbor (acquaintance, associate, companion) as yourself; I am the Lord.- Leviticus 19:18

The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].- Matthew 22:39

Peace & Blessings,

Happy Wednesday Ladies! As we live from day-to-day, we often find ourselves planning to be more efficient. Especially us ladies, as little girls we thought about or planned to the “T” specific events or milestones and then life was interrupted; well interrupted by God. Sometimes in life with all of our planning we begin to operate out of the will of God and make decisions that are comfortable, stagnant or even the complete opposite of where God see’s us. When this occurs, God tends to interrupt our plans for the betterment of our future. Only He has the ability to see the danger, the wasted time, the ripple effect it has on our families when we plan outside of God. A lot of times when God interrupts our plans we can get frustrated and discouraged, but always remember He has your back and trust that wherever you were heading doesn’t compare to what awaits where God is taking you.

Got Prayer?

GOT PRAYERHi ladies! I hope this blog finds you well on today. I must say I have been convicted this morning and it’s truly a great thing to happen to me. I was reading back over the posts of my fellow GIRLFRIENDS. this week and suddenly I felt so convicted. That guilty conviction when know you haven’t fully trusted God, so like lately my prayers seem unbelievable. I pray because I know I’m supposed to and yes I want God to do some things in my life, but I don’t have any real belief behind them. In my mind and on my own agenda I have developed plans B, C, and D, just in case God don’t come through (when I think He’s supposed to). I’ve been convicted of not feeling worthy of the same (yet exclusive to my life) blessings God has been giving to others. Like for some reason its not supposed to be my turn just yet. And then I open up my daily devotional and today’s topic was The Priority of Prayer! So now I’m like “OKAY GOD, I HEAR YOU!” Because see, God knows I’m a crystal-clear-believer, meaning when He shows me things – it needs to be “crystal clear” to me. I don’t know about some of you and how God talks to you, but He knows I need abit more convincing that its Him LOL.

So with that, I’m very happy to be called out and convicted on this morning because its like a “hello, wake-up Tamara” experience for me. Now I’ve heard from Him and I’m re-empowered to believe in those things He has promised to me. I can go into prayer confidently knowing that I have the righteousness of Jesus and that my prayers have power. I can be precise in my prayers and ask for things in confidence because I am deserving and worthy. And so can you! Ladies, prayer is not a game! It’s a way of life and it is necessary to be a daily priority for you .

You do not have, because you do not ask (it of God). –James 4:2 AMP

Ladies, if you desire prayer please feel free to submit us a request and we can pray for and with you.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]. –James 5:16 AMP

Worship In The Wait

My Pastor has recently been teaching from the series “Can You Wait?” and let me tell you it has blessed my life tremendously!! I can honestly say that I will never view the process of waiting quite the same. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you about it in totality today, but I do want to share a tidbit of it with you and pray that it encourages your heart.

In the process of waiting it is SO easy for us to put up our petition, say from our mouth that we believe and trust in God but then our actions show something completely different. We say “God has it all in control” but in the back of our minds we already have plan B, C, D, E & F on stand by in the event that the Lord doesn’t respond within what we deem as the right time. Crazy right? The one point that Pastor got through this Sunday was as simple as this “Remember who you are waiting on.” Wow how profound. Like seriously, God doesn’t need our help! Take this passage as an example:

“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, measured heaven with a span and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?” ~Isaiah 40:12

The God that we serve is big, mighty, strong, and well able to reverse whatever it is that we think we can fix on our own! Once the petition goes up we need not do anything else but trust, believe and worship Him while we wait. Realign your focus during your waiting process. Stop looking at the issue, your own desires and/or motives, get out of your feelings and instead focus on Him and Him alone. Ask that He fills you even the more with His Holy Spirit, get busy doing His business, show Him how much He truly means to you, not just what He can do for you, and watch the blessings that will come your way! He is worthy of all the honor, glory, praise and worship that is due His name!

Peace & Blessings,
