TGIF girlfriends!! So here we are ladies, rounding out the first month of the new year! So how did you do? Are you still knocking out those 2017 goals and resolutions? – losing weight, healthy lifestyle, working out, water challenge, journal challenge, prayer challenge, etc… I was trying to name the more “popular” goals/resolutions that we tend to make each year LOL. Well let me just tell you (about me) – I haven’t given up and don’t plan to give up either on some of them BUT I’m finding, trying to organize my life along with incorporating my new goals has become quite the balancing act! I’ve succeeded in a few areas and did a good week’s worth of effort in the others. I’m still motivated and inspired to complete all of my goals, its just taking me a lil bit to get organized and to prioritize properly. (Y’all know how my life is setup… and just in case you forgot LOL – wife, mom of 4, EPing, 8a-5p, blogger, ministry worker, wedding planner… IJS) So this is my inspiring moment, for all my girlfriends that are ready to throw in the towel or have already thrown it away, to get back into the game/race and let’s complete this journey together! Its been said that it only takes 21 days to create/form a habit, so lets kick it in to ACTION! Put your phones, tablets/iPads, and planners to use and physically schedule time to do each goal you
wish plan to pursue. This does include daily prayer time to take your goals to the Lord and pour out your desires unto Him. What’s the quotes?
If you Fail to plan, you Plan to fail – Benjamin Franklin
A Goal withOUT a Plan is just a wish – Antoine de Saint-Exupery
and the Word says:
Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], and your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]. ~ Proverbs 16:3 (AMP)
We can do this ladies! The year has just begun. Don’t dwell on the past 27 days and start conquering your masterplan with the 338 days remaining!! Don’t let 2017 be your year of shoulda, coulda, woulda, but let this be your complete and perfect year!
Have a blessed weekend ladies!
Joy for Your Day,
In continuing the flow of the week and on this first day of December, remember everyday still counts! Let’s close out the last 31 days of 2016 being our best cheerleader and continue to live and walk on purpose.
We are 32 days away from a new year..a fresh start. Looking back over 2016 there were so many plans that we had for the year. We were pumped up and confident that we would accomplish every single goal on our vision board. This was going to be “our year”. But did it happen? Have you taken the time to re-evaluate your goals and plans for 2016 to see how many you actually achieved?
32 more days…
I have taken the time to look back and I am not pleased by what I see. Sure I’ve hit a few goals, gotten closer to achieving some, and then there are those that I have not touched at all. I’ve started and stopped this weight loss journey I don’t know how many times(currently on a hiatus), said that I was going to read more only to add more books to the untouched stack, declared that I would spend less and save more, only to blown my allowance on Target clearance time and time again. I have set my alarm to get up an hour earlier to spend some much-needed quiet time with my Father, only to hit he snooze button more times than I should. These are a just a few from my “short list” but trust me I could go on and on.
Again, we have 32 more days…
If you didn’t quite reach the mark, as I have not, we still have time. There is no need to wallow in the shoulda, coulda, woulda, now is the time for action. Once you have looked over your list, write a new one that outlines how you will achieve or get closer to achieving those untouched goals before the clock strikes 12 on January 1st. It’s so easy to develop the “forget it” attitude and declare that you will start fresh in the new year. Why not start now? It has been proven that it takes 21 days to develop a new habit. Guess what? We have 32 so there is no reason why we can’t get a jump-start to finishing this year strong!
Take it one step at a time. Set achievable smaller goals that will lead you to successfully obtain the larger ones. Lord knows I am dreading the thought of starting this weight loss journey again, but I’m determined to do it! Instead of trying to do it all at once, working out and diet, I’m going to work on my eating habits for the next 32 days. That way when I return to boot camp in January, I will have (hopefully, just being real lol) already crossed this “small goal” off my list and am able to tackle the next and eventually see the fruits of my labor!
This is one example of how I plan to get started, what’s yours? We have 32 more days to finish strong.
So now finish this, so that your eagerness in desiring it may be equaled by your completion of it, according to your ability.
~2 Corinthians 8:11 AMP
Peace & Blessings,
Growing up, what did you dream about? Did you see yourself as a doctor (like me), a lawyer, a ballerina? What did the 5 year old you see yourself doing at 30? Take a second to think about it.
Now fast forward to present tense, where are your dreams now? Or have you stopped dreaming? Has life caught up with you and those things you once desired have now just become a dream deferred? Don’t feel bad, it happens to the best of us. I know it has happened to me more than once. We (I) get so consumed with the ins and outs of daily life that we forget about those things that we desire deep down. But its time to cut that out. We still have breath in our bodies, we still have the ability to get it done, we just have to take the first step and that is to simply dream again…
When my Girlfriends. and I started this blog, as I’ve told you previously, I only saw it as a new hobby. I didn’t know at the time the magnitude of said project. This has become so much more to me. It has allowed me to find my purpose and has increased my passion for the art. This may just be a weekly read for you, but its become a part of life for me. I want to do so much more than just give you a weekly post. I have the desire to see Girlfriends. as a brand. We can move from just the blog to posting video polls on Instagram, hosting live Periscope or Facebook Live Girl Talk sessions, selling Girlfriends. t-shirts that promote successful sisterhood and unite woman all over. Right now these are just ideas, but those ideas can turn into strong desires, and then into a dream. We can then take that dream and start writing out a plan and place a petition up to our Heavenly Father and pray that if it aligns with His Will. Once confirmation has been received and we have been released to move forward, then at His perfect timing we will take that plan and put it into action.
I hope you are getting my drift today. My desire is to encourage your heart to dream again. Cast out fear and doubt and place your faith in your Father to guide your steps in the right direction. See yourself in big places or platforms. I love watching and following the ministries of Priscilla Shirer, Heather Lindsey, and Sarah Jakes Roberts. I see my name in the same arenas as these ladies one day. I see myself speaking publicly to large audiences of women, encouraging their hearts and strengthening them spiritually through the Word of God. Seems a little far-fetched huh? Maybe but maybe not. My issue now is ME. I have to let go of fear completely, stop hiding behind this keyboard and walk in God-given anointing. That’s just my story, what’s stopping you?
But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. – Matthew 6:33 AMP
Peace & Blessings,
The newness of the year is still fresh and I’m sure most of us are still sorting and organizing all of the plans that we have set to accomplish before year end. Some of those goals we will accomplish, excel and achieve to the best of our ability however let’s face reality; others may be out of reach, seemingly difficult to complete or just not in HIS plan for our lives in this season.
This brings to mind one of my favorite passages of scripture
The other day I was reading a daily devotional by Short Daily Devotions which discussed this passage of scripture and I thought what a perfect time to share with my Girlfriends. In this devotion the author reminds us that God has a plan for our lives, good, bad and indifferent, it is all a part of His plan. So often when failures or self-deemed missed opportunities come up we quickly say “It wasn’t meant to be” or “It just wasn’t my time.” What if we start looking at it from a different perspective? In the most difficult of situations, we have to remember He STILL has a plan and has our best interest at heart! Yes it may hurt, it might make you cry, but it’s all for the fulfillment of the plan He has already written for your life. But it doesn’t stop there. We must also remember to continue to seek HIS face in those difficult times to see what it is that He wants to teach us from this situation. Once it has been made clear to you, bless someone else that may be going through the same or similar situation. I made it through and guess what so can you! (Ask me how I know)
So I encourage you today to revisit that list of goals again, but this time do not look at them alone. Ask your Father in Heaven about that list. Find out what it is that HE has for you this year, not just solely what you have for you this year. And if you step outside of His will and do your own thing, it happens (be honest), once you realign yourself, accept that it did not work your way and focus on what He has laid before you. Be encouraged, continue to seek His face and submit to His will in EVERYTHING concerning your life, be a blessing to others (don’t be stingy!) and watch His plan (in due season) be unfolded before your eyes.
Peace & Blessings,
Happy Wednesday Girlfriends! I apologize in advance for my post being short in length today. My final major project for class is due this week and I have yet to start! Pray my strength!
I was going thru some of my old posts and ran across Moving Forward from March. As I read thru the post, it brought back so many memories and truly showed me how far my family has come just from the beginning of this year. We aren’t officially home owners yet, (somebody scream YET) but we are working hard and getting closer and closer to our goal. So I can stop right there and praise my Father just for that! Thank you Lord for being one stop closer!!! Hallelujah and Amen! The process has not been easy, but I do not expect it to be. Anything worth having in life you should have to work for. If it came easy you wouldn’t appreciate it as much, right?
As this year is quickly coming to an end, I challenge you to reflect back over 2015 and see how far you’ve come. Have you accomplished those goals you set in January? If not are you getting closer to them or have you just forgotten about them altogether? It’s not too late to pick them back up! Re-evaluate, come up with a strategy, start vision casting for 2016. Then activate your faith, put your trust in the Almighty Father, and know that if it is in His perfect will for your life, then it shall come to pass!
Then the Lord answered me and said, “Write the vision and engrave it plainly on [clay] tablets so that the one who reads it will run. ~Habakkuk 2:2 AMP
Peace & Blessings,
